Gay Travel to Thailand

Thailand--the land of smiles--is, at once, a rich cultural experience as well as a gay travel Mecca. With 90% of its population following the Buddhist philosophy, homosexuality is widely accepted without protest or judgment. Though an anything-goes policy is in order once the bedroom doors have been closed, visitors should inform themselves on the otherwise modest customs and traditions of this country's fascinating people. Since some of these can be quite unique and unusual to the westerner, it is advised that one do a bit of research on the topic before embarking on gay vacations to the country, or on any gay tours offered there.

For instance, although the sight of two men walking the streets arm in arm may be completely acceptable and normal to the typical Thai person who views this as 'a simple friendship', a man and a woman holding hands as they walk is not so readily accepted. And though sexual acts are left to the discretion of the involved individuals behind closed doors, public displays of nudity are considered absolutely unacceptable--even wearing shorts and a tank top is questionable in some areas and establishments. Never should one touch another's head, as the head is considered to be sacred. And one should make sure never to point one's feet in the direction of another human being, since this also is viewed as being taboo.

A visit to Thailand can be as relaxed or as active as the traveler chooses it to be. Most gay tours are geared toward the ever popular nightlife scene. Go-go clubs, boy bars and sexy discos have been popping up at an increasing rate over the past few years in larger cities such as Bangkok, Chiangmai and Phuket, making these the ultimate destinations for the sexually adventurous traveler. On the other hand, gay vacations to quieter and more traditional regions like Koh Samui offer visitors a peek into the true, laid-back Thai island experience. Here, the crystal clear waters and magnificent rock formations are the main day-time attractions. But don't be fooled; the nightlife, though less common than in the larger cities, is still widely available and not to be missed.

Some other ideas for gay travel in this fascinating country would include; catching one of the drag performances offered in the larger cities (Calypso in the Bangkok Asia Hotel is considered one of the best), a visit to one of the many Buddhist temples (remember to dress appropriately), joining one of the gay tours which take you to camp out in the hills with tribal villagers or to the rainforest where you'll sleep in a floating bamboo hut.

The best time for travel to Thailand is between November and February, as March and April can be quite hot and May through October, the monsoon season, even hotter and more humid. Gay vacations should be booked keeping in mind that the country offers three separate gay pride festivals in the major cities of Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket.

Thailand, and its people are full of surprises. The phrase 'Mai pen rai', or 'it's nothing/no worries/it's cool' tells all about the country and its inhabitants. Gay people are more than accepted by the general Thai population, making Thailand the ultimate choice for gay travel.

An Introduction to Designer Wetsuits

The wetsuit is one device which has changed its functionality and design over the few decades since it was first designed. These days, however, the wetsuit has gone the way of other types of sporting clothing, and has undergone a culture and fashion of its own. Just as skiers and snowboarders are now subject to 'fashion on the slopes,' divers are able to purchase designer made wetsuits which are customized to each person's exact specifications.

Personal choice plays a huge part in deciding whether one would wish to look different when diving, and whether they would ever want to purchase a designer made wetsuit. What was once a simple matter of picking a wetsuit that fit your unique body type is can now be a daunting choice of different colors, shapes, designs, fits, sizes, as well as additional wetsuit features!

One particular Dutch wetsuit designer is particularly popular, and has gained notoriety within diving circles for his unusual and, admittedly, confronting wetsuits. One of his most popular of wetsuit designs has sparked controversy and criticism, as it is specifically crafted to make the diver look as if he or she has been attacked by a shark! This wetsuit certainly is gruesome and arguably in bad taste, but I guess at the end of the day it's all in the name of a bit of fun.

Designer wetsuits are generally not run of the mill (as you can see!), and are very unique and tailored to specific requirements. Professional divers are often found to have their own solitary wetsuits which set them apart from others, which caters to the individualists who wish to be look special whilst diving.

Whilst the traditional wetsuit was only ever really commercially available in black, new technologies have allowed modern wetsuits to be made in a wide variety of colors, due to advancements in neoprene, the material used in wetsuit production. However, the functionality of modern and customized wetsuits is not lowered in any way, shape or form, as the massively high standards required in wetsuit production are also kept with integrity. It is always of utmost importance that a wetsuit maintains is primary purpose of preserving body temperature, to ensure that divers are able to swim in cold water climates without risk of injury.

Hidden stitching and embedded glue seams are some additions that are commonly found in designer wetsuits, as they provide a wetsuit that looks incredibly streamlined and sophisticated - it is a minimalist approach that is gaining incredible popularity amongst divers.

If you are an avid diver who wants to look different when under the water, why not see if you can get a wetsuit custom designed for you?

When Kim Hanna isn't rocking his own designer wetsuit, he is busy working on his business at wetsuits for sale.

Schengen Visa in Thailand

A Schengen Visa allows the holder to freely visit all member nations of the Schengen Agreement. The Schengen Agreement was originally signed between just five countries in Europe. However, since that time the number has grown to 25 member nations including; Austria, Belgium, The Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, The Netherland, Norway, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. By obtaining the most popular and common type of Schengen Visa, Category C, an individual is allowed to stay in any of these nations for 90 days within a period of 6 months. This means that a person can stay up to 90 days in any of these nations and freely move between them without having to obtain different visas for each country. While those 90 days do not have to be consecutive they are only available for the six month period after first entering a Schengen Nation. There a number of different types of Schengen Visas available in Thailand to individuals who complete the necessary application process.

Types of Schengen Visas: There are a number of Schengen Visas available to Thai applicants. The following are a list of the different types of visas offered by member nations. However, Category C is the most common type of visa and is the one recommended to travelers.

· Category A Visa: Some nationals are required to have this visa allowing the individual to travel through the international transit areas of Schengen Nations airports. However, this does not apply to Thai citizens and is most likely not necessary for travelers.

· Category B Visa: This visa allows individuals to single, double or multiple transits to Schengen Nations for a period of 5 days of less.

· Category C Visa: This visa is the most popular type of Schengen visas and provides the individual holder the ability to travel within Schengen Nations without obtaining additional visas. The visa is good for 90 nonconsecutive days. However, those 90 days must be used within six months of the date of first entering a Schengen Nation.

· Category D Visa: This visa is issued by individual Schengen Nation and allows a holder to stay in that country for the length of time provided by that individual nation. The holder of this visa may travel within other Schengen Nations for up to 90 days within the six month period of first arriving.

· Category FTD and FRTD: These visas are only special visas for road and rail lines between Mainland Russia and Kalingrad Oblast which borders the Baltic Sea.

Filing Documents: To complete an application for a Category C Schengen Visa the following documents should be provided:

1. A completed application available online or at Schengen Nations' embassies.

2. A passport and a copy of that passport. The passport must be valid for at least three months after the planned return from Schengen Nations

3. A photograph or photographs of the applicant's face that was taken within six months of applying. The amount of photographs required may vary so it is advisable to have a few available.

4. Proof of medical travel insurance that meets or exceeds €30,000.00

5. Evidence of a stable financial background, such as bank statements, property certificates and similar documents.

6. Documents showing travel arrangements, accommodations and related materials that show that the trip will be temporary.

7. If you are staying at another person's residence in a Schengen Nation it might be necessary to bring an invitation from the individual you are staying with in order to verify your accommodations.

General Process: Once these documents are prepared an individual must complete a brief filing process. First, you must go to the embassy or consulate of the Schengen Nation that you intend to spend the majority of your time in. If that is unknown you could go to the Embassy or consult of the Schengen country you will first arrive in. Second, you must submit the documents listed above to the necessary station and pay the €60 filing fee (approximately THB 3,000.) This is usually the final step, but occasionally an interview will be requested to ask about your visit. A visa will usually be issued within in 4-5 business days after submission; the process can take longer if an interview is required.

Note:

· If the Schengen Nation that you are planning to spend the majority of your time in does not have an embassy or consulate in the country you are residing in you should contact the Schengen Nation that represents the other Nation for purposes of visas.

· Meeting the above requirements and completing the filing process does not guarantee a visa as approval is up to the discretion of the reviewing officer.

Conclusion: Making an application for a Schengen Visa in Thailand is the most convenient and effective way for a Thai national to travel through Europe. It allows an Thai national up to 90 days of travel to all Schengen Nations within a six month period. The visa is truly a 25 nation tourist visa that is provided to an individual who meet minimum requirements and file the appropriate application.

Making an application for a Schengen Visa in Thailand is a time consuming process and requires you to submit many documents. It is highly recommended to use the assistance of a Thailand lawyer who is trained in immigration matters to assist you to lodge your visa application in order to ensure its success.

Living Up to the Reputation - Scuba Diving in the Philippines

To give it its full name, The Republic Of The Philippines is made up of over 7,000 separate islands, and covers an area of just over 300,000 square kilometers (115,000 square miles). Its population of 77 million people makes it one of the larger South East Asian countries, but recent political unrest, and sporadic outburst of militant activity have resulted in the tourist figures for the Philippines being lower than for many of their South East Asian neighbors. The main island groups in the Philippines are Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao and the capital city is Manila, where over 10 million of the Philippino population live.

Due to the size of the Philippines, the weather patterns are relatively diverse, however they can be roughly divided into the dry season, which runs from September through until May, and the wet season, which runs from June to September. The average temperature across the Philippines is 78 degrees F (25 degrees C) ranging up to 90 degrees F (32 degrees C) in the drier months.

Diving in the Philippines is possible at any point in the year, although it may be wise to avoid the monsoon months which run from July to September. When considering whether or not to go diving in the Philippines, the figures are very compelling. 34,000 square kilometers of coral reefs, and over 400 species of fish means the Philippines undoubtedly holds a great deal of potential for novice and expert divers alike. The unique location of the waters of the Philippines, means that they are constantly enriched by the currents of the South China Sea, the Indian Ocean and the Celebes Sea.

The diving in the Philippines can be split into five main regions, Luzon, Palawan, Puerto Galera, the Sulu Sea and Visayas. The diving ranges from fresh water cave dives in the inland lakes, through to some of the best drift diving available along one of the Philippines numerous coral reef walls.

The best diving in the Philippines is considered to be at the Visayan Islands, which are towards the centre of the archipelago. Popular dive sites within the Visayan Islands include Bohol and Moalboal. The is also excellent diving to be in the multitude of dive spots around Puerto Galera, where the Canyons is rated is widely rated as a 'must do' dive. Drift diving through the three deep canyons, accompanied by a multitude of barracudas, tuna, jacks and trevally, make this a truly enthralling dive. Add to this the common sightings of giant manta rays, hammerheads and white tips, and you'll see why many people dive the Canyons more than once.

Overall, the diving in the Philippines is of the highest standards, and the difficult traveling between the various sites is more than compensated for on the actual dive sites. It caters for all standards of scuba diver, from novice up to the most experienced pro's, and undoubtedly leaves all wishing they had booked their stay in the Philippines for longer.

Is There a Perfect Scuba Wetsuit?

Technology has increased significantly with in our lives which in turn affects a multitude of products that use on a regular basis, the scuba wetsuit has not been spared in this progression and some of the manufacturing techniques, product designs and functionality of the suits have increased dramatically.

Although the purchase of a scuba wetsuit is somewhat of a very personal choice there are a number of factors that contribute to the decision-making process when shopping for these items. First and foremost the areas within which the diver is actually diving will in all likelihood be the predominant factor in identifying suitable suits for consideration. This is because of the water temperature dictating the need for a thicker suit, or even in some cases the dry suit, which actually allows the diver to wear clothes underneath the suit, normally within the form of thermal clothing.

Although one might consider the dry suit or targeted at the commercially orientated divers, the vast majority of so-called "social" divers or part-time enthusiasts often times go for the full scuba wetsuit, otherwise known as the steamer. Also available in a variety of thicknesses, the suits are designed to keep the entire body warm in a number of differing conditions. The thickness of the suit will allow divers to go into colder water regions, and a thinner suit will most likely be selected in more temperate water temperatures. This does not mean that one has to take the full suit, but a Shorty suit is often used too.

One of the best choices within the scuba wetsuit range is that of the full steamer, with detachable arms and legs, which in turn allows the diver to utilise the suit in a variety of different conditions and water temperatures. This type of item is ideal for the diver that travels around a lot, and dives in contrasting conditions and situations.

A number of accessories can also a company the scuba wetsuit, which includes the boots, gloves and hood which in turn provide little extra protection from the elements, as well as the environment within which one may be diving. This protection is seen in helping prevent scratches from rocks and coral reefs within which one may be diving.

Naturally there are a large number of suppliers of the scuba wetsuit, ranging from very well-known brand names to lesser-known makes and varieties. There are key factors that come into play when selecting the right item for your needs, which include the overall quality of the item. These include the way the suit is actually put together, in other words does the manufacturer employ the latest technology blind stitching and glueing the seams, or is it just a standard sewing seam. Does the manufacturer stand by their products with guarantees or is it a hit-and-run affair? These are only a couple of questions that should be considered when purchasing your scuba wetsuit.

5 Multi Centre Dubai Luxury Holidays

Dubai luxury holidays are now more popular than ever, and it is easy to see why. It is one of the fastest growing, most diverse and exciting cities in the world, with an outstanding range of luxury experiences on offer. Increasingly, travellers looking to get the most out of their Dubai luxury holidays are combining a visit to the city with a stay somewhere else - another place in Dubai, or a location in another country all together.

Often these multi-centre holidays will contrast two very different experiences. City and beach holidays in Dubai, for example, allow a visitor experience both the hustle and bustle of the city as well as the relaxation of a beach holiday. Perhaps most exciting are the multi-centre holidays designed to give a taste of two very different cultures - Hong Kong, Thailand and Sri Lanka are just some of the destinations that can be combined with a luxury holiday to Dubai.

Dubai and Hong Kong

A twin centre Dubai and Hong Kong holiday will expose you to two centres of international business. While Hong Kong is still the more economically powerful city of the two, Dubai's rapid growth means that it may not stay in front for long, and a trip to these two cities will allow you to compare the attractions offered by them both. If the thought of exploring two busy cities sounds too tiring, you can choose to combine a break in Hong Kong with some quality time on the beach at one of Dubai's luxury holiday resorts.

Dubai and Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is in some ways the Dubai of South Asia, a small, rapidly developing, multi ethnic country that is becoming an increasingly popular holiday destination. For the traveler on a multi-centre holiday to these two countries, Dubai offers up striking desert landscapes and a wealthy cosmopolitan city, while Sri Lanka presents beaches, tropical forests and a more traditional island culture.

Dubai and Thailand

With Dubai renowned as one of the most exciting places to go on a city break and Thailand a long time favourite for island and beach vacation, it is natural that the two should be combined together on a multi-centre holiday. The sights and attractions of Dubai city can be combined with a trip to Koh Samui, Hua Hin, or Phuket to enjoy Thailand's relaxed atmosphere and beautiful beaches.

Dubai and the Seychelles

There could hardly be a greater contrast between Dubai city and the Seychelles, the international city and the island paradise, and this is what makes them a perfect pair of holiday destinations. Both places share is a host of luxury experiences, from the vibrant shopping culture at the Wafi Mall and Gold Souk in Dubai to the private islands and secluded beach resorts of the Seychelles.

Dubai and Oman

A multi-centre holiday doesn't have to combine a trip to two completely different cultures - often, it can give you insights into the subtle differences between two seemingly similar countries. Combining a Dubai luxury holiday with a trip to Oman will give you contrasting experiences of Middle Eastern culture - Dubai, the millionaires' playground and international business centre, and more traditional Oman, where distinctive cultural traditions still survive as part of everyday life.

Safe Scuba Diving Equipment

The ocean has always been a subject of wonder for human beings. This is unexplored territory for us and being the curious beings that we are, we want to explore more of it. That is what scuba diving is for. But before you go strap on the nearest boat, learn first the safe and effective scuba diving equipment you have to gear yourself up with should you want to take your adventures underwater.

The experience of exploring the ocean is an exhilarating and addicting endeavour. The feeling that you would get when you find yourself immersed in a whole different world is something that you would want to repeat over and over again. This is why it is important that you invest in safe and effective scuba diving equipment. If you are going to do this for a long time, you have to make your gear last.

The first thing you have to consider is the first layer of scuba diving equipment: the wetsuit. The wetsuit is made of synthetic rubber and nylon. This is your bodies protection from the water. It is important that you keep your body completely dry when underwater because prolonged exposure to the water will cause your body to implode with water molecules. Especially in depth that that is a thousand feet and below, you will need the protection from the force and currents underwater. You need to be safe from hypothermia which is why the wetsuit is important. The wetsuit should be snug and tightly fit against your body but not to the point wherein it cuts off circulation. You will also need flippers to be able to move smoothly underwater.

The most popular thing that people associate with scuba diving is the oxygen tank. It is the most essential gear that you will have to invest on since this will be your ticket underwater. You will carry the oxygen tank in your back. Not to worry because the water eliminated a third of your weight so the oxygen tank, while it is heavy on the surface will be effortlessly light underwater. Look for oxygen tanks which you can closely monitor so you would know how much more you have and you will be able to surface safely without running out of air or panicking.

The face mask is also an essential part of the gear. This will make you see and breathe underwater. The face mask will be over your mouth, nose and eyes, creating a barrier between your senses and the water.
To be able to make the most out of your safe and effective scuba diving equipment you will need to undergo scuba classes so you would know how to use them properly. Nothing can take out the fun in scuba diving than accidents and mishaps. If you are geared with effective scuba diving equipment, all you have to worry about is the time you have to explore the world you have not seen before. Use safety measures and master your equipment to fully enjoy your scuba diving experience.
