I have been all over the world and one of my favorite travel destinations is without a doubt London. The English capital city attracts visitors from around the world and one of the main reasons for this is because there are so many wonderful tourist attractions which travelers can enjoy.
I have listed in this article some of my favorite places to visit and things to do in London.
Tower Bridge
One of the most famous bridges in the world is most certainly the Tower Bridge. It opened to the public in 1894 and was designed by Horace Jones. Opening hours of the Tower Bridge are daily from 10:00 until 18:30.
Tower of London
This is where the Crown Jewels can be seen on display. It was also at one point in time used as a jail and place of execution. This place should be on every tourists list of venues to visit in the British capital.
Big Ben
Big Ben is certainly one of the most famous clocks in the world and it is in fact part of the Houses of Parliament. Unfortunately only UK residents can climb the tower to Big Ben.
Hyde Park
If you are looking for a quiet place to spend a part of the day then be sure to visit Hyde Park. There is plenty of greenery to enjoy and you could also visit Speaker's corner where you can hear people give speeches about a wide range of rather interesting and unique topics. There is also a lake where you can rent a small boat and even go swimming in the summer.
Westminster Abbey
The Westminster Abbey is one of the most important religious buildings of the country and has been home of royal coronations for nearly one thousand years. A lot of famous English people have also been buried at the Westminster Abbey.
Madame Tussaud's
Madame Tussaud's is one of the most famous and popular tourists attractions of London and it is home to wax figured of famous people including politicians, movie stars and musicians. It was originally founded in 1835 and several other Madame Tussaud's have since opened around the world including one in Amsterdam for example. Opening hours are Monday through Friday from 09:30 until 17:30 and during the weekend from 09:00 until 8:00.
